🤔How do I participate?

We highly recommend Metamask for this process but most of web3 wallets with a dapp browser will work.

In order to participate, your tokens must be on a web3 wallet like Metamask. This guide will walk you through the process of exporting your private key, setting up Metamask, importing your private key into Metamask, and finally, connecting your wallet to Snapshot.

NOTE: Always keep your private keys secure. If they're lost, there's no way to recover them. Similarly, if they're stolen, someone can gain control of your wallet.

You don't need to move your tokens from your Hardware Wallet for this.

Step 1: Exporting Your Private Key

In order to import your wallet into Metamask, you will need to export your private key from the wallet where they are currently stored. Here's a general guide:

  1. Open your current wallet software. This could be a wallet like TrustWallet, MyEtherWallet, or another wallet where you hold your tokens.

  2. Find the option to view or manage your private keys. This can usually be found in the settings or security section of your wallet. In some wallets, this option may be hidden as an advanced feature.

  3. Export your private key. This is usually done by clicking an 'export' button or something similar. Be aware that your wallet may ask for a password or other security measure to confirm this action.

For the IGWallet, here is how it works:

Your private key can be exported from your IGGalaxy wallet using your wallet password. Open up the wallet page > visit the settings icon, and enter your password within the Export tab to view this information.

Always remember to keep your private key secure during this process. Don't send it over insecure channels and don't store it in a location that others can easily access.

Step 2: Download and Install Metamask

Metamask is a crypto wallet that is used as a browser extension. It is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Brave browsers, IOS and Android. Follow the steps below to download and install Metamask:

  1. Go to the Metamask website (https://metamask.io/).

  2. Click on the "Download" button.

  3. Choose your browser/OS and follow the instructions provided to install the extension/App.

Step 3: Import Your Private Key to Metamask

Once you have installed Metamask, you can import your private key. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Metamask extension icon in your browser's toolbar.

  2. Create a new wallet or unlock your existing Metamask wallet.

  3. Navigate to "Settings", then click on "Security & Privacy".

  4. Click on "Import Account".

  5. Paste your private key in the field provided and click "Import".

  6. Your account should now be imported into Metamask.

Step 4: Connect Your Wallet to Snapshot

Now that your tokens are on Metamask, you can connect your wallet to Snapshot. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Snapshot page of the project you want to participate in. This will usually be a URL like https://snapshot.org/#/iggold.eth.

  2. Click on "Connect Wallet" in the upper right corner.

  3. A pop-up will appear asking you to select a wallet. Choose Metamask.

  4. A Metamask pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the connection. Click "Connect".

  5. Your wallet should now be connected to Snapshot, and you should be able to participate in governance votes.
